Bring one cup of water, one cup of sugar (or alternative sweetener to taste), and 12 oz of cranberries to a boil in a medium saucepan. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook while stirring occasionally until most of the cranberries have burst (this will fill your home with the song of the cranberries… and if you don’t understand this, you will when you make your cranberry sauce). This should only take about 10 minutes. Easy. Now, add the zest and juice from one orange to your cranberries and stir.

If you’re feeling adventurous you can spice your cranberries up with a splash of bourbon or other flavouring agent (vanilla extract for example).

Transfer your sauce into mason jars, let them cool, lid them up, and refrigerate.
